2023 National Orientation Found Poem
Place one hand on your chest
One hand hand on your belly.
Name an ism.
Does anyone else want a cushion?
What about spiders?
What about someone naked in your house?
Community is the people you’re with.
Will there be a log to sit on?
Fold it hamburger and then hot dog.
Ratatouille!
I kept investigating the chocolate.
Surprise!
There are numbers under your seat again.
Put one hand on your heart
And one hand on your tummy.
Take a deep breath.
Can I play a song that’s a religious song?
I learn best when I’m asked a question
And I have to think about it.
We acknowledge that we will make mistakes.
There might be 100 white people there
Is it like mutual aid?
Classism is used to separate
This is the most present I’ve felt all week.
This is only the beginning.
They said they have extra sandwiches
There are people who professionally throw plungers onto tall structures.
Curve your upper arm. That’s half a heart.
Pedestrians and cyclists are taking over.
Angel and the bad man
and what’s the other one?
This is only the beginning.
Place one hand over your belly
And breathe.
