Choose Your Own Adventure
QVS National Orientation 2024
Whenever you see “Choose Your Own Adventure” on the schedule, you can decide to move your body, express your creativity, engage in discussion or rest. Since there are four opportunities to “Choose Your Own Adventure” at National Orientation, you could decide to do one thing in each category. That’s not a requirement: Select the option that’s right for you. You don’t have to decide in advance, but we thought you might find it helpful to see your choices.
Move Your Body:
Monday: Get moving with Partner Acrobatics with QVS Alum Thomas Flaherty in the Conlon Room. Kate will be there!
Tuesday morning: Get moving with yoga activities with Rachael in the Conlon Room.
Tuesday afternoon: Get moving with a friendly game of volleyball. The net is between the Main House (where we eat) and the entrance to Pendle Hill.
Wednesday: Take a walk with Zenaida and
ID some local plants. Meet at the front door of Brinton House.
Express Your Creativity (in the Brinton Dining room):
Monday: Enjoy some time for drawing and collage with Haley/
Tuesday morning: Mike will facilitate a map-making game. We’ll draw and use our imaginations to collaboratively tell a story. The story concludes during the Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday afternoon: Drawing and storytelling with Mike. You can join the afternoon session even if you didn’t attend Tuesday morning.
Wednesday: Make some sun-powered prints of found items with Kate.
Engage in Discussion
Monday: Talk to Ruth and Zenaida about Tarot
Tuesday morning: Talk with Liz about imagining other worlds and economies : a sci fi chat on imagining change.
Tuesday afternoon: Talk with Woody about ADHD and Community.
Wednesday: Talk with Rachael about being BIPOC in your city and in QVS.
Rest
You can always decide to rest during any of these time slots. Take a nap. Enjoy the campus. You know what you need, but please engage with at least two of the facilitated options listed above.
While you don’t have to decide in advance, you’re welcome to let me know which options are most interesting to you. That way, I can make sure the facilitator has adequate supplies and we can update you if anything changes.
