The Future Is Now
Do you remember when we were all together for National Orientation? Toward the end of our time together, we distributed 3”x5” cards and asked people to write something they’d like to remember in six months. It’s been a little longer than six months, but here’s what you wanted to remember:
We are all loving and growing together in a community. Conflict can be healthy and productive.
It’s inevitable if we make it inevitable.
Everyone joining in joyful, raucous music using pots and pans and utensils.
Starting over is hard. It’s uncomfortable and scary. But when I’m with people who also strive for a liberated present and future, everything feels right.
I want to remember FRIES in conflict: Freely given, Retractable, Informed, Enthusiastic, Specific.
That QVS is a powerful program for bringing people together and working toward a new, more liberated world.
One thing I want to remember in six months is the moments that we walked around, the bonfire, and all the ways we intentionally made each other feeling like we belonged.
Doing yoga at orientation was nice and I want to have more embodied awareness.
One thing that I want to remember in six months is that perfection is a myth that holds me back from taking care of myself well and being present to community, and is only a surface-level reality that only serves disconnection.
Enthusiasm for the coming year!
In six months I will be treasuring the warmth of these early fall days with you all at Panda/Pendle Hill. Watching your friendships blossom gives me hope for the world.
There is a world of people who want to make something kinder, more equitable, more beautiful together.
Everything will turn out the way it’s supposed to be. Some things I can control and will do my best to support, love and show up for those around me, and some things I can’t control.
Dishes +1 +16 (?)
The possibilities of different ways to love and become your own authentic self. Figuring out the intentional and healthy ways to balance yourself in your community.
