Does It Float?
Ahoy! Thank you for reading this.
I think the best part of QVS will always be the experiences you have face-to-face. I also think that phones shape the way we experience the world around us. Before leaving home to play board games with my friends, I can check traffic on Google Maps. I can check to see if the library is open or if I should expect rain by late afternoon. I don’t think phones detract from our experience of the lived-in world; I think they’ve become a way we orient ourselves to the experiences we want to have.
For a couple of years, I’ve been wondering how we can use this life-changing technology to help you connect to the experience you want to have with QVS. This web-based resource is my latest attempt to answer the question. I just need your help to make it float.
Each month, I hope you’ll look through the queries to help you reflect on the conversations you want to have with Housemates. I hope you’ll look at the Info Pages from time to time. You can look for contact information or what’s coming up on the QVS Calendar. Most of all, I hope you’ll take a moment to let me know what you want to see.
Do you have resources you’d like to see included on the Quiet Reading or Social Justice pages? Do you want more information on Quaker science fiction? Do you want to see a collection of everyone’s favorite recipes? Your feedback can make this resource something that helps current and future Fellows orient themselves to the experience they want to have.
